The AA - overview of services and benefits

The Automobile Association (AA) was founded in 1905 - after over a century of providing roadside assistance and advice, the organization offers a wide range of services. From route planning to new or second-hand vehicle checks, the AA has a service to meet the needs of today's motorist. This includes a highly-competitive motor insurance operation.

The AA's online car insurance quote system searches through a group of over 20 leading insurers to find the best car insurance quote possible. Surveys have shown that the AA can save motorists up to 40% on their car insurance premium. At present, the AA is offering discounts of up to 15% for new customers applying for car insurance online through their website (www.theaa.co.uk).

Though you do not have to be a member of the AA's breakdown service to qualify for their insurance coverage or discounts, AA members should give their membership number when seeking a quotation as they may qualify for special discounts.

The AA offers a wide variety of benefits to its insurance customers, including: online terms and conditions (in addition to the set they send you once you've bought your policy); a courtesy car while yours is being repaired; up to 70% no claims discount; up to 90 days European car insurance cover; dedicated 24-hour, year-round Claimline; and claims assistance services to help you recover uninsured losses.

You have the option of compulsory or voluntary excess (or both!) when insuring with the AA. Customers can benefit from further discounts for installing Thatcham security devices or trackers to their vehicles. You can pay your premium as a lump sum or in suitable installments - you can also opt to make your payments on or offline.

The AA also provide a free phone number for customers wishing to contact them but not seeking to make a claim. This free phone line is open 8am to 9pm weekdays, 8.30am to 6pm Saturdays and 9am to 4pm on Sundays. Most questions pertaining to AA insurance policies can be answered by visiting the AA's comprehensive website at www.theaa.co.uk.
